Woke up early this morning to catch my ferry from Pulau Batam to Sumatra. Ferry ride was uneventful. The shared taxi from the port to the city of Sepukang was a different story. The road, although paved, is filled with massive potholes that our driver kept dodging! Not to mention that the guy was a pretty crazy driver, passing on the inside, outside, shoulder, dirt patches, etc...
I could see the woman sitting up front (a local) start to get pretty nervous. Towards the end i was starting to feel it too. But whatever, its all part of the adventure. But now i know why it will take so long to travel across this country. I hope java is better.
